Rough Sketches
I looked at a variety of military uniforms, riot shields, robot concepts, and smgs, both real and fictional, to create the soldier designs. For the colour palette I played with different complementary colours for the high contrast.

Partway through development the team decided to switch the direction of our game. We chose to change it to its current first-person wave-based shooter form with a Blade Runner/Mad Max aesthetic. To this purpose I revamped the Soldier and Soldier Shield designs. I imagined that the robots used by the company running the "show" were customized versions of models created by another company, so I used the previous design as a base and modified/added elements to create a more rough/illegal feel. I also adjusted the colour palette to be more muted to fit the new aethestic.
I then rigged and animated both the soldier and the shield.
Final Design
